Magicians’ Book Club
Welcome to the Magicians’ Book Club! We are a Special Interest Book Club for Magicians and Students of the Art of Magic run by The Bangalore Ring, India. Originally launched on Telegram in June 2025, the Book Club has recently moved to WhatsApp for regular coordination and discussions.
What’s a Book Club?
A Book Club is where those interested in reading books get together and read a selected book together. They then exchange their favourite parts, discuss highlights and learnings, etc., with others in the group.

What is a Magicians’ Book Club?
If this is your first time in a book club and you are asking yourself: “What in the world is this?”, a book club aka a book discussion club is where a group of people read the same book and meet to discuss it together. In addition to encouraging members to actually read and complete a book, these discussions also help the members understand deeper meanings and gain insights from their collective readings.
While most book clubs delve deep into language, grammar and literature, we being a book club for magicians, can and will go a lot beyond that! We deliberate the theories, dissect the methods, brainstorm improvements, and of course, perform our favourite effects from the books that we read.
All in all, this book club can transform into a most magical place for us all. We are excited about the possibilities, and hope that you are too.
Who can Join this Book Club?
We are a special interest group that enjoys reading, discussing, and learning the works of conjuring and legerdemain. Magicians, hobbyists, and students of the art of magic from all over the world are welcome to join and partake in our reading group.
What Rules are to be Followed?
The Magicians’ Book Club is run by The Bangalore Ring and we fully respect the rights of authors and creators. We do not condone piracy and do not encourage bootlegging books.
Please remember to be civil, polite, and respectful to your fellow Book Club members.

What is the Club Reading Now?
We are currently reading an all-time classic of magic, “The Modern Conjurer and Drawing-Room Entertainer” written by C. Lang Neil in 1902. Given that we are magicians, we not only discuss the content and theories, but also perform a few tricks from the book. All this helps us know the book better and also get further inputs from our fellow magician readers!
